SCHEDULING
At any given time, we are actively working on the design and production of anywhere from a few to a dozen website projects. Projects vary in size and scope. Some take weeks to prepare, others can take up to a year. Though we design our sites so that it is easy for our clients to take on the bulk of their updating, most websites require small changes or added functionalities as time goes on. (Websites are organic creatures, always wanting to grow, to offer more, to serve their audiences better.) Since we design a dozen or more websites a year and since digital capabilities endlessly advance, the time we spend providing additional functionality to existing sites places ever-increasing demands on our schedule. As a result, we have increased our stable of programming contractors to fill in some gaps. We’ve also found the need to pay more attention to our own scheduling. The following are some rough guidelines. Of course, there will always be exceptions. Don’t hesitate to ask for what you need. We’ll make every effort to provide you with what you need, when you need it, within our capabilities.
Emergency Fixes
Your site is down or something is not functioning properly. To the best of our ability, we will respond within 2 to 4 hours. In fact, we’ll aim for 15 minutes, when possible. If the problem requires more than a simple fix, we will let you know when to expect the problem to be resolved.
Quick/Small Fixes
If you have a small correction or update that is not an emergency and will require an hour’s work or less, we will schedule it for completion within two to three working days of receipt of the request. We’ll try to email a response with an estimated completion time within a half day or receipt of the request. If the requested work will take more time to complete, we’ll contact you directly to create a reasonable schedule.
Major Changes/Updates
Work that requires several hours to complete is usually scheduled to commence within two weeks of receipt of the request. Often times, we can do considerably better than that but it depends largely on how many similar requests have been made.
New Website Projects
New projects are usually scheduled to begin within two to four weeks of an agreement being reached. More often than not, we start the collaborative process of creating the navigation within a week. Since the size and scope of website projects vary so greatly, we provide an estimated completion date based on the volume of work.
Budget Templating Package
We are working on developing a series of website templates that could reduce the cost of website production greatly. It will take considerably less time — and therefore cost less — to produce a new site by taking advantage of many design and programming features within an existing template. Until that offering is in place, feel free to peruse our sample sites. If there is a design/structure that appeals to you, let us know. If your material suits your template of choice, we are happy to look at cost-cutting opportunities.
